Mr. Michael Moch, Senior Specialist Export Control, MTU Aero Engines AG

Michael Moch, engineer of aeronautics, is working for MTU Aero Engines at Munich since 1999 and  joined the contract management team for defence products in 2005. He specialized since then in the U.S. Export Control Regulations ITAR and EAR. His knowledge and experience in U.S. export control is based on regular training in the USA, practical day to day business and interaction with other export professionals in Europe and USA.

In 2016 Michael Moch joined the central export compliance department as senior specialist for the MTU group and project manager for technology control. As permanent member of international export control working groups, he is co-operating with the main European aircraft engine manufacturers as well as with the big U.S. OEMs.


Mr. Petar Ljujic, Senior Trade Compliance Manager, Esterline Belgium

Petar is a Senior International Trade and Customs Compliance professional ,recognized top performer and accomplished leader with more than 12 years of broad-based and hands-on experience in diverse areas of international trade laws and regulations. Petar excels at enhancing, managing, and leveraging client relationships and improving business processes. He holds a Master Degree in International Customs Law and Administration from the University of Canberra, School of Law & Justice, Australia. He is a Licensed Customs Broker with Canada Border Services Agency , Certified Customs Specialist with Canadian Society of Customs Brokers and appointed Designated/Empowered Official in Canada with Canadian Controlled Goods Directorate. In his current role as Senior Trade Compliance Manager at Esterline , Petar manage International Trade Compliance for Esterline Defence, Avionics and Training (DAT) facilities in the EMEA region.


Mr. Michal Kowalski, Manager of GTM Audit and Risk Management, Nokia

Michal Kowalski is part of Nokia Global Trade Management since year 2012. During last 5 years Michal was leading Nokia GTM audit program and governed the GTM own risk management program as both essential parts of company’s ICP (Internal Compliance program). Before he joined current position he gained wide exposure to global processes and cultures, strong leadership, project management and development skills during Corporate Internal Audit work as a project lead in Motorola and Nokia. During Corporate Internal Audit time he got exposed to trade compliance first and it became the next step in his development. During Motorola time he got exposed also to 6 sigma quality culture and methodology which he recently found “common ground” within export control operations.

He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, is 6 sigma Green Belt trained (currently pursuing his certification) and speaks 4 languages.


Mr. Jasper Helder, Partner, Akin Gump LLP

Mr. Helder’s practice focuses on international trade and corporate compliance matters addressing economic sanctions, export controls, customs, antibribery and anti-money laundering (AML). He also advises on other aspects of trade regulation, such as trade remedies, free trade agreements and rules of origin. His practice further includes EU customs compliance, notably customs classification (including Binding Tariff Information) and customs valuation/transfer pricing. In addition, he counsels on the compliance aspects of third-party contracts (for instance, with agents, distributors and intermediaries) and related third-party compliance reviews. He has particular experience with regard to Russia and the Middle East, and the antibribery/AML aspects of humanitarian (food/medicine) distribution in sanctioned countries. Mr. Helder has been commended in the 2013-2016 editions of Chambers Global, Who’s Who Legal (2010-2016) Trade and Customs lawyers, and Legal Media Group’s Expert Guide for International Trade (2010-2016).

Mr. Helder’s focus is on economic sanctions and EU export controls (dual-use and military products and technologies). He frequently assists U.S. clients with their EU compliance issues, and advises a range of

multinationals on EU and U.N. sanctions compliance for countries such as Iran, Russia and Syria, and on interaction with U.S. sanctions, as well as on the interaction between EU and U.S. export controls rules (such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Mr. Helder works with clients on drafting and maintaining compliance and internal training programs, as well as conducting internal investigations and conducting and responding to export controls and customs audits and other government investigations, including voluntary self disclosures. He represents clients before European national (customs, export and other) administrations and courts, as well as before the European Commission, its advisory committees and the European Court of Justice.


Ms. Rosa Rosanelli, AIM Norway Group Chief Export Compliance Officer, General Counsel, Belgium Engine Center

Rosa Rosanelli is currently Chief Export Compliance Officer for AIM Norway Group and General Counsel for the Belgium Engine Center. A Lawyer specialized in export controls, Rosa has analyzed and actively contributed to the resolution of legal and compliance issues for European defense companies, as well as the European Commission’s Galileo Legal Unit. Author of a report for the Italian Senate, she has held trainings for EU Commission Officials on ITAR, and has cooperated with its Joint Research Center to introduce the legal framework of non-proliferation to foreign governments, such as Democratic Republic of Congo or Tajikistan.

Member of several groups of experts, she is author of legal publications, including a Handbook on US export controls published by Liège University (Belgium) and a book on legal issues related to Space applications for Security and Defense, in cooperation with Finmeccanica.

Education: Masters in Law of Aeronautics and Space and Telecommunications, Paris XI University Masters in International Relations (International Law), Rome La Sapienza University A Lawyer specialized in export controls, prior to this Rosa completed a Master in Law of Space and Telecommunications at Paris XI University, in 2012.


Ms. Elena Slade, Sr. Trade Compliance Manager (EMEA), CNH Industrial

Elena Slade is the Senior Trade Compliance Manager for EMEA region at CNH Industrial N.V. based at their corporate headquarters in the United Kingdom. Elena holds an honours degree in International trade, specialising in Logistics and Customs from Moscow University.

Elena is one of the few who has always aspired to have a career in International trade (since age 13!). It is this aspiration that has driven her for more than 14 years in a successful career within the customs and export controls field.

Since 2008 Elena has lead the Trade compliance team in EMEA region, focusing on AEO, IPR, Customs Warehousing, FTAs and Export Controls. In 2016 Elena was asked to join CNH Industrial N.V. to help set up and develop their Trade Compliance team, processes and controls within EMEA region.


Mr. Torsten Roeser, Director Export Control & Export Control Officer, Infineon Technologies AG

Torsten Röser works as an Export Control Officer and Director of the Central Export Control Department of Infineon Technologies AG. His engineering background and his long practice of export control within the industry make him an experienced specialist. Thus, he is active in various German and European industry associations like ESIA, BDI, BITKOM, and ZVEI, and is speaker in international conferences on Export Control.  Torsten Röser is also part of BAFA’s outreach activities.


Mr. Eric van der Starre, Trade Compliance Representative, MIC Customs Solutions

Eric brings over 30 years of extensive practical and technical knowledge of EU Customs legislation. He has a proven track record of managing multi-disciplined and geographically dispersed teams, cross business group resources, solution partners and third party vendors in order to maximize compliance awareness and visibility in Customs, Export Controls and Supply Chain Security. Eric spent almost 20 years as a regulator with the Dutch Customs Authorities. His industry experience includes a variety of senior compliance roles for companies like Philips, NXP and Huntsman where he served as global head of the Corporate International Trade Compliance department.

Eric applies a pragmatic approach to compliance, education & training, and has been presenting to audiences at all levels within governments and business.

    Dieter studied at the University of Bayreuth and University of Augsburg (1st law degree), he was also involved in the additional education in business and economics. He graduated in 2004. In the same year, he started studying for the 2nd law degree (in the same University), while working for a law firm focused on business and tax law.

    In 2006 Dieter joined MAN Diesel & Turbo SE to work in the legal department, since 2009 he is solely responsible for export control and customs law.
